How a roll-off works
The truck backs in and sets the container on the spot you agreed. You load it over the open top or through the rear door, keeping everything level with or below the top edge — an overfilled dumpster cannot be transported — and spreading the weight evenly. We recommend not moving it after placement; if it needs relocating, call and we handle it properly. When you are done, call or text; the truck comes back, loads it and hauls it, with the load fully and adequately covered as Massachusetts law requires (M.G.L. c.85 §36).
Space is the thing to check before you book: room for the container, clear access for the truck, a flat, solid surface such as a driveway or paved area, and clear space overhead, free of wires and tree branches. Keep sidewalks, utilities and drainage areas clear. If you will not be home, mark the spot. Every size we run is over 6 cubic yards, and under the Massachusetts fire code a rubbish container over 6 cubic yards needs a permit from the head of the local fire department unless it is delivered and removed in the same business day (527 CMR 1.00, Table 1.12.8.5); containers must also be marked with the name and phone number of the company that can be reached in an emergency (1.12.8.5.2).
What the flat rate includes
Our flat rate covers delivery and pickup, the standard rental period and disposal within the included weight limit for your size — up to about two to three tons on a 10 yard, up to five to six on a 40. The price itself depends on the dumpster size, the rental duration, the type of debris and the placement requirements, which is why we quote each job rather than publish a price list. Three things can add to it: going over the included weight, keeping the container past the rental period, and prohibited materials found in the load. Roll-off rental on Cape Cod — where the loads go
Every load we haul goes to licensed disposal and recycling facilities serving Cape Cod, and metal, concrete, clean wood, cardboard, yard waste and soil are recycled or diverted from landfills whenever possible. Massachusetts decides much of that: MassDEP bans asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean gypsum wallboard, mattresses, textiles, large appliances, picture-tube TVs and monitors, lead-acid batteries, whole tires, leaves and yard waste, and recyclable paper, cardboard and containers from disposal (310 CMR 19.017), and mixed construction loads go to a handling facility that meets MassDEP's minimum performance standard. The town facilities are not roll-off destinations: the Barnstable Transfer Station caps construction debris at vehicles up to 5 cubic yards, Chatham's takes construction debris only from Chatham sites, Brewster's is for Brewster residents and Brewster-generated waste, and Falmouth's Waste Management Facility next to our yard serves Falmouth residents with a sticker. What is the difference between a roll-off and a front-load dumpster?
Roll-off dumpsters are temporary open-top containers used for cleanouts, renovations and construction projects. Front-load dumpsters are designed for ongoing commercial trash service. Roll-offs are what we do, for residential and commercial projects across Cape Cod.
How full can I load it?
For safety, debris must stay level with or below the top edge — overfilled dumpsters cannot be transported. If you need more space, call and we arrange a swap or an additional container.
Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?
No. You do not need to be present as long as the area is accessible and the spot is clear and marked. The same goes for pickup.
How quickly can you deliver?
Same-day or next-day across Cape Cod whenever availability allows. Call before noon for the best chance of same-day — if you call earlier in the day, we can often deliver within hours.
Can I not just take it to the transfer station myself?
For a small load, maybe — but only within your own town's rules. Falmouth residents with a sticker can bring pickup-truck and trailer loads of construction debris to the Waste Management Facility; the Barnstable Transfer Station takes construction debris only in vehicles up to 5 cubic yards; Mashpee and Sandwich take no demolition material; and Truro takes none. Cover the load either way — Massachusetts law requires it (M.G.L. c.85 §36). A roll-off is the option when the job is more than a couple of trips.
