Roll-off dumpster rental in Centerville
Approx. 16 road miles from the yard, around 28 minutes.
Centerville is approx. 16 road miles east of the yard, around 28 minutes. Same-day or next-day when availability allows; call earlier in the day and we can often deliver within hours. It is a village of the Town of Barnstable (48,916 people at the 2020 Census); there's no separate Census figure for Centerville.
The Barnstable Transfer Station at 45 Flint St, Marstons Mills, lets residents and contractors bring building materials from Barnstable structures only in vehicles no larger than 5 cubic yards, with carpet no bigger than 4 by 4 feet and wood no longer than 4 feet. Asphalt, concrete, brick and anything containing asbestos aren't accepted at all. For a kitchen, a roof or a whole-house clean-out, that's a lot of trips and a lot of cutting — a roll-off takes the job in one go.

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Centerville
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- COMM Fire District — Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills; it issues the fire-code dumpster permit for Centerville jobs.
- 5-cubic-yard cap — building materials go to the Town Transfer Station only in vehicles no larger than 5 cubic yards (Transfer Station Rules and Regulations).
- Cut to size — carpet no larger than 4 by 4 feet and wood no longer than 4 feet at the Transfer Station.
- Mixed loads — a load with 20% or more metal, cardboard or other non-C&D material counts as mixed C&D and is priced higher.
- Not at the Transfer Station — asphalt pavement, concrete, bricks and anything containing asbestos.
- Route 28 — Falmouth Rd runs through or near the village and is MassDOT's throughout Barnstable.
What comes out of Centerville properties
A kitchen remodel fits a 10 or 15, flooring removal a 15 (about 4 to 5 pickup loads), a whole-house clean-out a 20 (about 6), and new construction or demolition a 30 or 40. Lumber, carpet and drywall that would have to be cut down and carried in 5-yard loads to the Town station go straight into the container — just keep everything level with or below the top edge.
What goes in: household junk and furniture, construction debris such as wood, drywall, flooring and siding, and roofing shingles — plus concrete, brick or asphalt in approved limited quantities, talked through before delivery so the load stays inside weight limits. Brush, branches and yard waste go in a yard-waste container of their own. What doesn't go in: paints, solvents and automotive fluids, batteries and electronics, propane tanks and fuel containers, tires, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals — that's our own list. Massachusetts adds its own: MassDEP's waste bans (310 CMR 19.017) cover asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean drywall, mattresses and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes, lead-acid batteries, leaves and yard waste, and recyclable paper, cardboard and containers, so mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that meets MassDEP's minimum performance standard. Tell us before you load a mattress or an appliance. The state fire code also keeps oily rags and hot coals, cinders and hot scrap metal out of containers (527 CMR 1.00, 19.3.1). Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Massachusetts guide covers the rest. Leftover oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals and automotive fluids go to Barnstable County's household hazardous waste collections, which run from April through October (capecod.gov); off-season, the County points residents to MassDEP's list of permanent facilities.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Centerville
Who may haul: In Massachusetts no one may haul refuse through a town's streets without a permit from that town's Board of Health (M.G.L. c.111 § 31A), and the permits run to the end of the calendar year. Centerville is part of the Town of Barnstable, so the Town of Barnstable requires a Board of Health waste collection permit for anyone who collects or transports garbage or refuse generated in the Town for pay, from homes or businesses (General Ordinances § 202-1), with fines up to $300 a violation (§ 202-5). The permit is annual and expires 31 December, new vehicles are inspected, the vehicle permit goes on the truck's visor (Board of Health Reg. § 373-1B(4)), and permit holders offer customers recycling (§ 202-6). We found no Town roll-off franchise. We're licensed and insured.
Fire permit: Massachusetts' fire code requires a permit from the head of the local fire department for a rubbish container over 6 cubic yards (527 CMR 1.00, Table 1.12.8.5); a container delivered and removed in the same business day needs none (1.12.8.5.1), and every container must be marked with the name and phone number of the company that can be reached in an emergency (1.12.8.5.2). For Centerville that's the COMM (Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills) Fire District.
In the street: we found no Barnstable ordinance or permit for a container in a public way, and none of the Town's online permit types is a dumpster or street-occupancy permit. Rubbish, boards with projecting nails and refuse of any kind may not be left in a street (§ 206-1). Driveway first. You don't need to be home as long as the area is accessible and we know where the container goes. Our smaller containers fit easily in most driveways, and we place boards under the container to help prevent damage to the driveway.
On your property: Barnstable's Board of Health keeps stored rubbish at least 10 feet from an abutter's property line, or as far as the lot allows (§ 353-4), and outdoor rubbish areas at commercial, lodging and multifamily properties are screened from the neighbors' view (§ 353-5). The rules are written for ongoing trash storage, but we place the container with them in mind.
State highways: Route 28 (Falmouth Rd) is MassDOT's throughout Barnstable. Nothing may be placed on a MassDOT state highway without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 § 21), and MassDOT has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside one the container goes on private property, never in the highway layout. Not every stretch of a numbered route is state-owned, so we check the exact address.
Covered loads: every load entering the Town's solid waste facility must be covered (Board of Health Reg. § 373-5A). Massachusetts requires loads of rubbish and debris to be fully and adequately covered on the road (M.G.L. c.85 § 36). Keep debris level with or below the top edge — an overfilled container can't be transported.
Remodel or tear-down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days before work starts by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction and demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Centerville
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address and the town — in Barnstable, the village — what you are clearing, whether a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard or a job site, what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or run out of room, and you get a clear, flat-rate price that covers delivery, pickup, the standard rental period and disposal within the included weight. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protective boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep it level with or below the top edge and keep the problem items out — paint, solvents and automotive fluids, fuel and propane tanks, batteries and electronics, tires, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals, plus what Massachusetts bans from disposal, such as mattresses, appliances and recyclable cardboard. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal
Call or text when it is full or the job is done and we schedule a prompt pickup, often within 24 hours. The load is covered for the road and goes to licensed disposal and recycling facilities, with metal, concrete, clean wood, cardboard and yard waste recycled whenever possible.

Same-day or next-day when availability allows — it is about 28 minutes from the yard. Call (508) 388-1861 earlier in the day for the best chance.
Can I take remodel debris to the Barnstable Transfer Station?
Only in vehicles no larger than 5 cubic yards, with wood cut to 4 feet and carpet to 4 by 4 feet, and never asphalt, concrete, brick or asbestos. A roll-off saves the cutting and the trips.

The COMM (Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills) Fire District, under the state fire code (527 CMR 1.00), for a container over 6 cubic yards that stays past the day it arrives.
Do I need a Town permit for a dumpster in my Centerville driveway?
We found no Town of Barnstable driveway or street dumpster permit. The fire-code permit from the COMM Fire District is the one to plan for if the container stays overnight.
