What Size Dumpster Do I Need? A Cape Cod, MA Guide

We do not publish a price list, because the job decides the number. What we can show you is what goes into that number and what moves it, so the quote you get on the phone makes sense.

Dumpster rental pricing on Cape Cod depends on the dumpster size, the rental duration, the type of debris, the weight limits, the placement requirements, the delivery location and local disposal fees. Our pricing is flat rate and transparent, priced on the specific details of your project, and you always receive a clear price before delivery with no surprise fees.
We quote by phone rather than post a price list because the things that decide the number — what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs — change from job to job. A 15 yard of carpet in Mashpee and a 10 yard of broken patio in Wellfleet are different jobs on the scale and on the road. Call (508) 388-1861 with the address and the material for a flat quote. We accept all major credit cards and electronic payments, and business clients and contractors can receive invoices by email.
A flat-rate quote includes delivery and pickup, the standard rental period and disposal within the included weight limit. That is the whole job for most customers. When you compare dumpster companies, ask the same questions every time: is delivery included, are pickup fees included, what is the weight limit, are there overage charges, and how long is the rental period? Transparent pricing helps avoid unexpected costs later.
The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal. Massachusetts law says solid waste may only go to a place approved by the state (M.G.L. c. 111 § 150A), and MassDEP wants every load of construction and demolition waste to go to a handling facility that meets its minimum performance standard for pulling out recyclable material. Different facilities take different materials at different rates, so the material decides the disposal cost. All debris is taken to licensed disposal and recycling facilities serving Cape Cod, and whenever possible, materials such as metal, concrete and wood are separated for recycling.
Size and weight. Each rental includes a weight limit based on its size and the debris type — up to 2–3 tons on a 10 yard, 2–3 on a 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40. Additional disposal fees may apply if the dumpster exceeds the included weight allowance. Concrete, dirt, brick and roofing shingles can quickly exceed weight limits, so tell us about heavy material in advance and we help you estimate the weight.
Days. Standard rentals include a 7-day rental period, and your quote confirms the days. Need more time? Call and we can extend your rental for a small daily fee. Finished early? Call or text and we adjust the pickup whenever possible, with no penalties. Long-term rentals, multi-dumpster jobs and repeat customers may qualify for discounted pricing.
Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote, and the Cape is long. From our yard in East Falmouth, approx. road miles are: Falmouth centre 6, Mashpee 7, Cotuit 10, Bourne 11, Osterville 14, Barnstable 15, Centerville and Sandwich 16, Hyannis 19, Yarmouth 23, Dennis 26, Harwich 33, Brewster 35, Chatham 39, Orleans 41, Eastham 45, Wellfleet 52, Truro 59 and Provincetown 66. Approximate figures, but they explain why the Outer Cape runs can cost a little more.
Extra service. Swaps of a full box for an empty one, additional containers and staggered pickups on a phased project are all priced as part of the quote. There are no emergency surcharges for same-day service.
Massachusetts bans a long list of materials from disposal, and the ban reaches the hauler as well as the customer (310 CMR 19.017). MassDEP inspects loads at disposal facilities, says there is no acceptable level of banned material in a load, and tells haulers they may charge service fees or surcharges on loads that do not comply. A single mattress or box spring is enough to fail a load. So a sofa bed, a pile of old clothes or a fridge tossed in at the end can cost more than it is worth. Falmouth's Board of Health rules also tell permitted collectors not to knowingly collect waste-ban materials (§ 11.6).
Keep these out: mattresses and box springs, textiles, large appliances, TVs and monitors with picture tubes, car batteries, whole tires, leaves and yard waste mixed into a junk load, and our own no list — paints and solvents, automotive fluids, propane tanks and fuel containers, batteries and electronics, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals. The what-goes-in guide says where each one goes instead.
For a small job, a town transfer station may do, if you live in that town and the load is small enough. For anything bigger, the limits add up:
| Option | Published charge or limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Falmouth Waste Management Facility, Thomas B. Landers Road | Falmouth residents only; all waste must originate in Falmouth | Construction debris by the barrel or the pickup, trailer or one-ton truck load; no whole-structure demolition or concrete and masonry rubble; loads covered |
| Barnstable Transfer Station, Flint Street, Marstons Mills | Construction and demolition material $285 per ton (effective July 1, 2026) | Barnstable structures only, in vehicles no larger than 5 cubic yards; no asphalt pavement, concrete or bricks; no asbestos |
| Yarmouth Disposal Area, Forest Road | Construction and demolition $205 per ton (fee sheet updated February 2026) | No bricks, asphalt pavement or concrete; every load covered |
| Chatham Transfer Station, Sam Ryder Road | Demolition $225 per ton (effective July 1, 2026) | Only from Chatham sites, with documentation; closed Wednesdays |
| Orleans Transfer Station | No construction and demolition materials from vehicles of one ton or more (§ 185-16A) | Smaller contractors need a 30-day pass and an active Orleans building permit |
| Truro Transfer Station | No construction or demolition debris of any kind | No asbestos of any kind, including shingles |
Every do-it-yourself trip is a covered load. Massachusetts law requires a load of rubbish or debris to be fully and adequately covered, with fines of $50 to $200 (M.G.L. c. 85 § 36); Falmouth wants solid waste in open trucks covered and tied down (§ 191-7), and Barnstable wants every load entering its facility covered (BOH § 373-5A). Add the drive, the facility hours, the length limits on lumber and the per-ton charges, and past a handful of trips one roll-off usually wins on money and on weekends.
None of these change our flat rate, but they can add time or cost to a job. A box that stays past one business day needs the fire department's permit under the state fire code, and each department sets its own fee and form, so ask it or ask us. Most town street rules state no fee that we found; Harwich may ask for an indemnity bond with its obstruction licence (§ 255-1), and Provincetown's rule is the one to budget for, because blocking a street even in part needs police personnel paid for by the person asking (§ 11-6-3-1). Provincetown also requires an Integrated Pest Management contract for the whole time a dumpster is on site, and Eastham's Building Department lists a dumpster fee with its permit fees. On a state highway there is no permit path at all.
Bigger jobs carry state notices. Before any demolition or renovation, Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey by an asbestos inspector (310 CMR 7.15(4)). Asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notification ten working days before work starts, filed by the licensed abatement contractor. A separate construction or demolition notice (AQ 06) is needed for most buildings, but not for a residential building with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our roll-offs.
For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box rather than the labor, and you load on your own schedule. For a single couch or appliance, or a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal service may suit you better: our crew does the lifting and loading, your quote is based on the volume, the type of material and the access, such as curbside or interior removal, and you get one clear price that includes labor, hauling and disposal. For larger projects we also offer bundled pricing when you combine junk removal with a dumpster rental.
Call (508) 388-1861 — the phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer same day or next day delivery throughout Cape Cod whenever availability allows, and if you call earlier in the day, we can often deliver within hours.

We quote every job by phone, because the price depends on the dumpster size, the rental duration, the type of debris, the weight, the placement and the delivery location. Our pricing is flat rate and transparent, and you get a clear price before delivery with no surprise fees.
Delivery and pickup, the standard 7-day rental period and disposal within the included weight limit. Going over the weight allowance, keeping the box longer, or extra swaps and containers are what can add to it.
Most town street rules on the Cape state no fee that we found. Provincetown is the one to watch: blocking a street even in part needs a police detail paid for by whoever asks for it. A driveway avoids street permits altogether, though the fire department permit still applies if the box stays overnight.
Delivery location is part of the quote, so the longer runs can cost a little more: Wellfleet is approx. 52 road miles from our yard and Provincetown approx. 66. Local rules also change from town to town.
