Roll-off dumpster rental in Dennis
Approx. 26 road miles from the yard, around 47 minutes.
Dennis is approx. 26 road miles east-northeast of the yard, around 47 minutes. Same-day or next-day when availability allows; call earlier in the day and we can often deliver within hours. It is a town of 14,674 at the 2020 Census, with five villages the Town names: East Dennis, Dennis and South Dennis with their historic districts, and Dennis Port and West Dennis.
The Dennis Health Department issues a Refuse Hauler License, and its application asks for the number of trucks and each one's registration. The transfer station at the end of Theophilus Smith Road in South Dennis takes demolition debris by the ton, in pieces no longer than 4 feet; asphalt, brick, concrete and wood all carry fees. For a remodel, a roof or a clean-out, a roll-off saves the cutting and the trips.

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Dennis
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Refuse Hauler License — issued by the Health Department; the application lists the number of trucks, each vehicle registration and the other towns where the hauler is licensed.
- Your container, your job — the Board of Health's citation list covers depositing garbage or rubbish in someone else's receptacle without authorization (citation 2.7.12B, $50 penalty).
- Transfer station — 100 Theophilus F. Smith Road, South Dennis; Wednesday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Monday, Tuesday and legal holidays.
- State roads — the Town says Routes 6, 6A and 28 are plowed and maintained by MassDOT.
- Two historic districts — Old King's Highway (everything north of the Mid-Cape Highway) and the South Dennis Historic District.
- Snow stays off the road — contractors and residents may not push snow from a driveway, private way or parking lot onto or across a town road.
What comes out of Dennis properties
Kitchen remodels in 10s or 15s, flooring and medium remodels in 15s (about 4 to 5 pickup loads), a roof of around 2,000 square feet in a 15, renovations and whole-house clean-outs in 20s, large clean-outs in 30s, and new construction or demolition in 30s and 40s. Lumber doesn't need cutting to 4 feet for a roll-off, but heavy loads — concrete, brick, roofing — get talked through before delivery to stay inside weight limits.
What goes in: household junk and furniture, construction debris such as wood, drywall, flooring and siding, and roofing shingles — plus concrete, brick or asphalt in approved limited quantities, talked through before delivery so the load stays inside weight limits. Brush, branches and yard waste go in a yard-waste container of their own. What doesn't go in: paints, solvents and automotive fluids, batteries and electronics, propane tanks and fuel containers, tires, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals — that's our own list. Massachusetts adds its own: MassDEP's waste bans (310 CMR 19.017) cover asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean drywall, mattresses and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes, lead-acid batteries, leaves and yard waste, and recyclable paper, cardboard and containers, so mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that meets MassDEP's minimum performance standard. Tell us before you load a mattress or an appliance. The state fire code also keeps oily rags and hot coals, cinders and hot scrap metal out of containers (527 CMR 1.00, 19.3.1). Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Massachusetts guide covers the rest. Leftover oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals and automotive fluids go to Barnstable County's household hazardous waste collections, which run from April through October (capecod.gov); off-season, the County points residents to MassDEP's list of permanent facilities.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Dennis
Who may haul: In Massachusetts no one may haul refuse through a town's streets without a permit from that town's Board of Health (M.G.L. c.111 § 31A), and the permits run to the end of the calendar year. The Dennis Health Department issues a Refuse Hauler License; the application asks for the number of trucks, each vehicle registration and the other towns where the hauler is licensed. We found no written Dennis hauler or dumpster regulation online. We're licensed and insured.
In the street: we found no Dennis permit or container rule for streets. The Town's bylaw bars throwing or leaving boards with projecting nails, nails, or any noxious or refuse substance in a street (§ 138-2). Driveway first. You don't need to be home as long as the area is accessible and we know where the container goes. Our smaller containers fit easily in most driveways, and we place boards under the container to help prevent damage to the driveway.
Historic districts: north of the Mid-Cape Highway you're in the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District, and the South Dennis Historic District is the other; demolition there goes to the district first, and elsewhere Dennis's demolition bylaw can delay a significant building 75 years or older for twelve months (Ch. 61). Neither rule names temporary containers.
Fire-code permit: Massachusetts' fire code requires a permit from the head of the local fire department for a rubbish container over 6 cubic yards (527 CMR 1.00, Table 1.12.8.5); a container delivered and removed in the same business day needs none (1.12.8.5.1), and every container must be marked with the name and phone number of the company that can be reached in an emergency (1.12.8.5.2).
State highways: the Town says Routes 6, 6A and 28 are plowed and maintained by MassDOT. Nothing may be placed on a MassDOT state highway without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 § 21), and MassDOT has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside one the container goes on private property, never in the highway layout. Not every stretch of a numbered route is state-owned, so we check the exact address.
Covered loads: Massachusetts requires loads of rubbish and debris to be fully and adequately covered on the road (M.G.L. c.85 § 36). Keep debris level with or below the top edge — an overfilled container can't be transported.
Remodel or tear-down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days before work starts by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction and demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Dennis
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address and the town — in Barnstable, the village — what you are clearing, whether a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard or a job site, what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or run out of room, and you get a clear, flat-rate price that covers delivery, pickup, the standard rental period and disposal within the included weight. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protective boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep it level with or below the top edge and keep the problem items out — paint, solvents and automotive fluids, fuel and propane tanks, batteries and electronics, tires, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals, plus what Massachusetts bans from disposal, such as mattresses, appliances and recyclable cardboard. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal
Call or text when it is full or the job is done and we schedule a prompt pickup, often within 24 hours. The load is covered for the road and goes to licensed disposal and recycling facilities, with metal, concrete, clean wood, cardboard and yard waste recycled whenever possible.
