Roll-off dumpster rental in Bourne
Approx. 11 road miles from the yard, around 18 minutes.
Bourne is approx. 11 road miles north of the yard, around 18 minutes. Same-day or next-day when availability allows; call earlier in the day and we can often deliver within hours. It is a town of 20,452 at the 2020 Census, in Barnstable County, along the Cape Cod Canal, with villages including Buzzards Bay, Sagamore, Pocasset and Monument Beach.
Bourne's Traffic Rules and Orders (amended 7 March 2017) name dumpsters directly: no dumpster or roll-off container may be parked, stored or deposited on any public way of the Town without approval from the Board (§ 4.5). On a driveway that rule never comes up. The Town's Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) facility on MacArthur Blvd runs the Upper Cape's public construction and demolition transfer floor, where contractors tip loads that are reloaded for processing facilities in the region.

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Bourne
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Dumpsters on a public way — Select Board approval first, a clear way of at least 20 feet on two-way streets and 10 feet on one-way streets, and a flashing amber light or engineer-grade reflective material on the outer edges at night (Traffic Rules § 4.5).
- Rubbish in the street — dirt, rubbish, wood, timber or other material that tends to obstruct a public way needs a written permit from the Select Board (Bylaw § 3.1.1).
- ISWM facility — 201 MacArthur Blvd (Route 28); its C&D transfer station sits north of the residential recycling center.
- Neighbors welcome — the Town welcomes residential customers from Falmouth, Mashpee and Sandwich at ISWM through the scale; construction and demolition materials are accepted until 4 p.m. on weekdays and noon on Saturdays (Town notice, 13 March 2026).
- Snow emergencies — Traffic Rules § 4.2 sets a snow-emergency parking ban when a Winter Storm or Blizzard Warning is issued.
- Canal bridges — the Bourne and Sagamore bridges are owned and run by the US Army Corps of Engineers; as of September 2026 the state had announced no truck or lane restrictions for the replacement work.
What comes out of Bourne properties
A roof of around 2,000 square feet usually fits a 15, kitchen remodels a 10 or 15, roofing jobs, renovations and whole-house clean-outs a 20 (about 6 pickup loads), and new construction or demolition a 30 or 40. Concrete, brick and roofing should be talked through before delivery so the load stays inside weight limits. Street placement in Bourne means Select Board approval and lights at night, so a driveway drop is the quick way to start.
What goes in: household junk and furniture, construction debris such as wood, drywall, flooring and siding, and roofing shingles — plus concrete, brick or asphalt in approved limited quantities, talked through before delivery so the load stays inside weight limits. Brush, branches and yard waste go in a yard-waste container of their own. What doesn't go in: paints, solvents and automotive fluids, batteries and electronics, propane tanks and fuel containers, tires, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals — that's our own list. Massachusetts adds its own: MassDEP's waste bans (310 CMR 19.017) cover asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean drywall, mattresses and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes, lead-acid batteries, leaves and yard waste, and recyclable paper, cardboard and containers, so mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that meets MassDEP's minimum performance standard. Tell us before you load a mattress or an appliance. The state fire code also keeps oily rags and hot coals, cinders and hot scrap metal out of containers (527 CMR 1.00, 19.3.1). Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Massachusetts guide covers the rest. Leftover oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals and automotive fluids go to Barnstable County's household hazardous waste collections, which run from April through October (capecod.gov); off-season, the County points residents to MassDEP's list of permanent facilities.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Bourne
Who may haul: In Massachusetts no one may haul refuse through a town's streets without a permit from that town's Board of Health (M.G.L. c.111 § 31A), and the permits run to the end of the calendar year. Bourne's bylaw repeats it: “No person shall remove and transport garbage, offal or other offensive substances through the street of the Town of Bourne without first obtaining a permit from the Bourne Board of Health” (§ 3.10.6). We found no Town franchise for roll-offs. We're licensed and insured.
In the street — Bourne has a rule: “No Person shall park, store or deposit upon any Public Way of the Town a dumpster or any roll-on/roll-off container used for the collection of refuse, debris, or for any other purpose without approval from the Board” (Traffic Rules and Orders § 4.5). An approved container must leave a clear way at least 10 feet wide on one-way streets and 20 feet on two-way streets, and be marked in the dark with a flashing amber light or engineer-grade reflective material. A separate bylaw needs a written Select Board permit to put dirt, rubbish, wood or timber in a public way (§ 3.1.1).
Driveway first: on your own driveway or lot none of that applies. You don't need to be home as long as the area is accessible and we know where the container goes. Our smaller containers fit easily in most driveways, and we place boards under the container to help prevent damage to the driveway.
Winter: a snow-emergency parking ban takes effect on a Winter Storm or Blizzard Warning (Traffic Rules § 4.2) — one more reason the container sits off the street.
Fire-code permit: Massachusetts' fire code requires a permit from the head of the local fire department for a rubbish container over 6 cubic yards (527 CMR 1.00, Table 1.12.8.5); a container delivered and removed in the same business day needs none (1.12.8.5.1), and every container must be marked with the name and phone number of the company that can be reached in an emergency (1.12.8.5.2).
State highways: US-6 at the West End Rotary and the Buzzards Bay Bypass is MassDOT's. Nothing may be placed on a MassDOT state highway without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 § 21), and MassDOT has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside one the container goes on private property, never in the highway layout. Not every stretch of a numbered route is state-owned, so we check the exact address.
Covered loads: Massachusetts requires loads of rubbish and debris to be fully and adequately covered on the road (M.G.L. c.85 § 36). Keep debris level with or below the top edge — an overfilled container can't be transported.
Remodel or tear-down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days before work starts by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction and demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Bourne
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address and the town — in Barnstable, the village — what you are clearing, whether a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard or a job site, what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or run out of room, and you get a clear, flat-rate price that covers delivery, pickup, the standard rental period and disposal within the included weight. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protective boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep it level with or below the top edge and keep the problem items out — paint, solvents and automotive fluids, fuel and propane tanks, batteries and electronics, tires, medical waste, asbestos and hazardous chemicals, plus what Massachusetts bans from disposal, such as mattresses, appliances and recyclable cardboard. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal
Call or text when it is full or the job is done and we schedule a prompt pickup, often within 24 hours. The load is covered for the road and goes to licensed disposal and recycling facilities, with metal, concrete, clean wood, cardboard and yard waste recycled whenever possible.
