Commercial Dumpster Rental across Cape Cod, from the Canal to Provincetown
Commercial customers have a different problem from homeowners: the job runs on a schedule, with staff, tenants or customers working around it, and the container has to be there and gone when planned. Restaurants and cafés with remodel debris, retail stores with seasonal cleanouts or renovations, office buildings going through moves or upgrades, property managers and HOAs maintaining shared spaces, construction and demolition contractors, and real estate professionals handling property turnovers and foreclosures — the work is routine, and the scheduling is the service.
One thing to know up front: on the Cape, anyone who hauls refuse for pay answers to the town's Board of Health. State law requires a Board of Health permit to remove or transport garbage, offal or other offensive substances through a town's streets (M.G.L. c.111 §31A), and every Cape town writes its own version — Falmouth's hauler regulation adopted on 19 December 2022, Barnstable's waste collection permit (§ 202-1), Mashpee's dumpster-contractor licence (Refuse Regulation § 4A), Yarmouth's permit (Ch. 140), Harwich's licence (§ 164-2) and the rest. Each town page states its rule.

Restaurants, retail, offices and property turnovers
A restaurant remodel, a storefront renovation or seasonal clear-out, an office move or upgrade, an HOA cleanup of shared spaces, a property manager with tenant turnovers, a real estate turnover or foreclosure — these jobs make bulky debris in volume. Small cleanouts and light construction debris fit a 10, office or retail cleanouts a 15, restaurant remodels and mid-size renovations a 20, construction debris and bulky commercial waste a 30, and large demolition projects or warehouse cleanouts a 40. For ongoing operations we set up scheduled pickups on a weekly or monthly basis, and volume pricing is available.
Two things matter more to a business than to a homeowner. First, what stays out: commercial containers take construction and demolition debris, wood, metal scraps, furniture and fixtures, but not chemicals, paint, asbestos, propane tanks, fuel containers or medical waste — and in Massachusetts not recyclable cardboard, paper or containers either, which are banned from disposal (310 CMR 19.017). Falmouth requires businesses and institutions, like everyone else, to recycle what is on MassDEP's waste ban list. Second, where it goes: we work with licensed recycling and disposal facilities serving Cape Cod, and metals, concrete, clean wood and cardboard are recycled whenever possible. We are licensed & insured; ask when you book if your property manager or landlord needs proof of insurance.
Placement on commercial property
On a private lot, at a loading area or on a job site we place where the truck can reach and the crews can load, with extra care for curbs, landscaped areas, sidewalks and fire lanes. Every size we run is over 6 cubic yards, and under the Massachusetts fire code a rubbish container over 6 cubic yards needs a permit from the head of the local fire department unless it is delivered and removed in the same business day (527 CMR 1.00, Table 1.12.8.5); containers must also be marked with the name and phone number of the company that can be reached in an emergency (1.12.8.5.2). In Barnstable, the Board of Health wants stored rubbish kept at least 10 feet from a neighbor's property line (Reg. § 353-4), so we place with that in mind. Hyannis Main Street is a town road, so a container there is a Town of Barnstable matter, not a state one — call us before planning one. On the MassDOT-owned stretches of Routes 6, 6A, 28, 28A, 130, 134, 137 and 151, state law bars any obstruction without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 §21), and MassDOT has no permit type for a container. In Provincetown, deliveries on Commercial Street between Pearl and Central Streets stop at noon from 1 April to 31 October (§ 13-3-8). We build all of that into the delivery plan.

Commercial dumpster rental — the local specifics
Every Cape town licenses refuse haulers through its Board of Health, and most add something of their own. Falmouth's regulation requires a Board of Health permit before anyone collects solid waste in the Town (§ 8.1), and Falmouth limits collection to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Town Code § 191-10). Barnstable requires a waste collection permit from the Board of Health to collect or transport refuse generated in the Town for pay (§ 202-1). Mashpee licenses every dumpster contractor and inspects the trucks, wants each dumpster marked with the contractor's name and phone number, and requires empty dumpsters to go back to the contractor's yard between rentals (Refuse Regulation §§ 4A, 4E, 4F, 4H). Bourne (Bylaw § 3.10.6), Sandwich (§ 4.10), Yarmouth (Ch. 140), Dennis, Harwich (§ 164-2), Brewster (Recycling Center Regulation § VII.A), Chatham (Solid Waste Facility Regulation § 8.1), Orleans (§ 185-13B3(a)) and Eastham (Board of Health Regulations Sec. IX C.4) all license haulers through the Board of Health. Truro wants Board of Health and DPW hauler permits, and in Truro and Provincetown we check the Town's rules before booking. We are licensed & insured, and we tell you where your job stands before the truck leaves the yard.
Answers
Commercial Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Do you offer ongoing service for my business?
Yes — short-term rentals and recurring service, with scheduled pickups on a weekly or monthly basis. We work with contractors, property managers and real estate professionals who need recurring or multi-dumpster service, and volume pricing and flexible scheduling are available.
Can you deliver outside business hours?
The phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we deliver and pick up Monday through Saturday, with weekend service depending on scheduling and availability. We do not promise night or Sunday drop-offs, and in Falmouth waste collection is limited to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Town Code § 191-10). Tell us about loading hours and access limits when you book.
Can you handle multiple sites?
Yes. Several containers at once, staggered pickups and scheduled swaps across sites are routine for contractors and property managers.
How do you bill businesses?
We accept major credit cards and electronic payments, and business clients and contractors can receive invoices by email for easy record keeping. Where an independent provider handles the rental, billing may be handled by that provider — we tell you on the call.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — licensed and insured. Ask when you book if your property manager, HOA or general contractor needs proof of insurance.
Do the rules differ by town?
Yes. Mashpee wants every dumpster marked with the contractor's name and phone number and empty dumpsters returned to the contractor's yard between rentals; Falmouth limits collection to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Provincetown requires an Integrated Pest Management contract for the whole time a dumpster is on site; and Bourne, Mashpee, Harwich, Chatham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown each have a rule for anything in the street. Each town page says what that town asks for.
